Yummy Macarons!
For those who know me well, one of my favorite desserts is macarons. They are basically a light, meringue-based and almond biscuit filled with jam, cream or anything you want. I took a class where I had a chance to learn how to make them. Here are my notes on making the shell of a macaron. Good luck making them!
Ingredients:
- 200g of sugar + 60g of water
- 200g of egg whites + 100g of sugar + pinch of salt
- 250g of icing sugar + 250g of almond powder
Steps:
- Boil the sugar and water until 115 degrees.
- Whip the egg whites and sugar until medium consistency by gradually increasing the speed.
- Slowly add the sugar water into the egg whites and sugar until the meringue is glossy.
- Mix this meringue into the icing sugar and almond powder mix until the consistency is thick.
- Pip and bake at 290 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes.
