Sing with me "Y.M.C.A"!
No matter how many times I listen to Village People's song "Y.M.C.A.", I can't get enough of it. The main reason for this is that YMCA has played a very prominent role in my life since I was a teenager. I started there as a volunteer for their summer day camp, and I fell in love with the YMCA! Why you may ask? YMCA has built and maintained a vibrant community that everyone gets a sense of belonging and connection. YMCA tries its best to offer services to everyone for all ages and backgrounds so that each individual can feel included and welcomed. Whenever I enter a YMCA centre, I feel like I am at home...
Since my first day at YMCA, I have not looked back and I have been volunteering there in different children activities no matter which city I live in. On January 10, I had the amazing opportunity to participate in YMCA's "Sweat for Good" Guinness World Record for hosting the largest exercise ball class with 455 people. This "Sweat for Good" initiative is about sweat being a symbol of your achievement, and the ambition it took to get strength, drive, and commitment into your lives.
"Sweat is universal; everyone can relate to it. No matter your gender, ethnicity, age, race, religion, income level, size or shape, everybody’s sweat is the same. But when you break it at the YMCA, it means more: it’s for positive change, for belonging, for potential, for hope, for diversity, for dignity."
For the "Sweat for Good" event on January 10, each participant woke up early and arrived at the central YMCA by 6am, so that they can contribute to YMCA's success for the GWR. This event also demonstrated that each participant not only sweated for themselves, but for the whole YMCA community. Because they know that YMCA continues to strive to bring people together in an universal manner for the greater good.
I am very happy to be part of this community!
