Looking Back at 2017...
Can you believe that 2017 is going to be over in a few more days? I honestly can vividly remember the eve of last year's, where I was writing down my goals for 2017 and creating a vision board. I was eagerly going through magazines to find words and images that represented my goals for 2017. I believe that by surrounding yourself with words and images that you want in your life, they will actually manifest in your life one day. in 2012, I wrote that I want to work at University Health Network, and then later that spring, I started to work there! So, believe in your goals :)
In 2017, several goals did come true! However, there are several lessons that I want to share with you. Usually, I set many (and I mean MANY) goals for each year because I really like to live life to the fullest. These goals can be of any size, major or petite. I realized that sometimes by having too many goals, I don't get to master these goals properly. As well, I get overwhelmed with these goals that I don't get a chance to complete them. Therefore, the key lesson that I want to try for 2018 is to have 2-3 solid goals.
The next lesson is to take these few goals and to create a plan of achieving them on a monthly basis. For example, if I want to teach Bollywood fitness classes in Toronto, this goal would be broken down as the following for the first 6 months of 2018:
- January: Get certified as a fitness instructor and complete post-training sessions
- February: Create a playlist and memorize all the choreographies of the playlist
- March: Find a location to teach and market the classes
- April: Have several free demo classes to practice
- May: Start to teach fitness classes
- June: Gather feedback and learn new choreography to add in playlist
And the last lesson that I want to apply in #2018 is to have strong faith in my goals and in myself. When you really believe in yourself and surrender the universe, you will achieve everything in life, including your goals. It is easy to think that we are not worthy of pursuing these goals or to face tough challenges as we pursue these goals. Find the strength to overcome all this so that you can achieve these goals with confidence and pride.
So let's raise a toast for 2018 and the adventures that will emerge :).
