Writing like Leonardo!
Do you know what fun skill that Leonardo Da Vinci had? He was able to write ambidextrously and mirror writing. Being ambidextrous is the ability to use both hands with ease in any activity, such as writing or playing sports. By being ambidextrous, it helps to form new neural connections and enhances overall coordination. Mirror writing is the ability to write something in the reverse direction so that the text looks normal when viewing in a mirror. An example of this is the ‘Ambulance’ word found in front of the vehicle.
I remember my high school teacher being ambidextrous, as she would write various mathematical equations on the blackboard with both of her hands effortlessly. I was always fascinated that she was doing this, and thus paying less attention to the math questions she was teaching us!
As I am learning more about Leonardo Da Vinci, I thought it would be a fun experiment to try mirror and ambidextrously writing simultaneously. I realized that I am good with mirror writing, but am challenged slightly when writing with my left hand as I am dominantly right handed. Perhaps, over time, I will be able to write mathematical equations on the whiteboards with ease as did my high school teacher.
